Why Do Christians Say Jesus Is the Only Way to God?

Historic Christianity confesses that salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone. Jesus’ own claim in John 14:6 and the apostles’ witness in Acts 4:12 ground that belief; it does not license contempt for people who disagree.

A claim about Christ, not superiority

Christians do not say Jesus is the only Savior because they believe their own culture is better. They say it because Scripture presents him as the one mediator whose death and resurrection reconcile sinners to God. Every person, including the Christian speaker, needs the same grace.

The Westminster Confession describes Christ as the only mediator between God and humanity. That is a theological conviction to explain honestly, not to hide behind vague promises of personal improvement.

How to speak it

Tell the truth plainly and listen patiently. A listener may have serious questions about Jesus, Scripture, suffering, or the church. The answer is not to pressure them or attach aid to assent.

Christian witness should respect freedom of conscience while remaining clear about its message. The church’s task is to proclaim Christ and love neighbors; only God can change a heart.
